FAQs

Q: How much Brazil nut butter should I give my baby?

A little goes a long way. Brazil nuts are wonderfully high in selenium, so small amounts are best, and it's also the richest in fat of our range. A thinned ¼ to ½ tsp taste is plenty to start with.

Q: When can my baby try Brazil nut butter?

From around 6 months, once they're ready and have started solids. Offer a small, thinned taste on its own first, watching for any reaction before you mix it into other foods.

Q: How do I serve it safely?

Never offer it thick or straight off the spoon. Thin a little with water, breastmilk or formula, or stir it through puree or yoghurt until smooth and loose. Whole nuts aren't suitable before age 4.

Q: How should I store my Brazil nut butter?

Store it in a cool, dry place and reseal it firmly between uses. If a little natural oil settles on top, just stir it back through, or keep the jar in the fridge or upside down to keep it smooth and evenly mixed.

Q: Can adults enjoy it too?

Definitely. Its rich, creamy flavour is lovely spread on toast, blended into smoothies, or spooned over yoghurt and fruit. Because it's so high in selenium, a small daily spoonful is a simple way for the whole family to enjoy it.

About our Brazil nut butter

Willow Tree Foods Brazil nut butter is finely milled from roasted Brazil nuts, with no added sugar, salt, oil or preservatives. It is pure, natural Brazil nut butter, with the same single-ingredient promise behind every jar we make. That clean, smooth recipe is what makes it suitable for babies and grown-ups alike.

What Brazil nut butter tastes like

Brazil nut butter is smooth, rich and creamy, with a mellow, earthy flavour that is becoming more popular as a spread. Because it is naturally dense and satisfying, a little goes a long way, whether on toast, crackers or straight off the spoon. It is a comforting, buttery flavour that stands apart from the sweeter nuts in the range.

Brazil nut butter nutrition

Brazil nuts are famous for selenium, a mineral that supports healthy thyroid function and immune health. They are so naturally rich in it that even a small serve delivers plenty, so a thin spread is all you need. As a 100% Brazil nut product, every jar keeps that natural goodness intact.

A gentle first nut butter for babies

Brazil nut butter is an easy way to add variety once your baby is happily enjoying nuts. Introducing common allergens like nuts from around six months, before the first birthday and as part of a varied diet, is now widely encouraged. Because Brazil nuts are so rich in selenium, a small amount thinned with a little water, breastmilk or puree is all a little one needs.

Ways to enjoy Brazil nut butter

Spread it lightly on toast, fruit or rice cakes, or swirl a little through porridge and yoghurt. It adds a creamy, earthy richness to bliss balls, slices and baking, and it pairs beautifully with banana and dates. For babies, stir a thin smear through puree or porridge for a simple first taste.
